Square Enix officially announced that Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be ported to PlayStation 4 with “system-exclusive features” during their PlayStation China press conference in Shanghai yesterday.
It was rumored earlier in the week that this would happen as it appeared on Square Enix’s French storefront. The news came only five days after announcing that Final Fantasy VII would also be making its way to PlayStation 4 during the PlayStation Experience keynote.
Both games are set to arrive in Spring 2015 as digital downloads on PSN, but Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will also be available at retail as well.
Final Fantasy VII will cost $15.99 when released while Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will cost $49.99.
This news is not surprising in the least. Square Enix has been taking advantage or porting and “remastering” games lately. If I didn’t already have the game on PlayStation 3, I might consider picking it up. As for the prices, it sucks to see Square markup the price another $10 just for the current gen version. However, the $15.99 price tag on Final Fantasy VII isn’t bad at all as it will include trophies. Worth it in my book!
