Few things in life are more awe-inspiring than witnessing talented performers in action. The astounding thing about watching them is how effortless they can make the amazing appear. Sonya Belousova is one such performer. As spotlighted by Kotaku, Sonya, an award winning composer and pianist takes on a variety of classic Nintendo themes from Kid Icarus to Castlevania.
What makes the feat so impressive is not only her excellent piano skills, but the fact she comes up with beautiful arrangements on the spot after hearing many of the themes for the first time.
Seeing is believing. Watch the video below and bask in classic video game nostalgia. For more of Sonya’s work, check out Playerpianomusic.com.
This video was a real joy to watch. As someone whose first console ever was the NES, it brought back a lot of fond childhood memories. Even for games I didn’t play like Mega Man, it was still remarkable to hear Sonya’s arrangement of the theme. I have no musical talent at all, so witnessing what Sonya does so quickly is all the more impressive.
