God of War Celebrates 10 Years in March

Head of Santa Monica Studio, Shannon Studstill, posted a message on the developer’s website, discussing 2014 and what the studio looks forward to in 2015, including some exciting news concerning one of its largest franchises.

After a heavy blow dealt to the God of War developer following the cancellation of an unannounced project and the subsequent loss of many employees, Santa Monica Studio still feels pride in its accomplishments over the past year.

Since our summer facility move to The Reserve, to announcing new External Development projects Wattam, Fat Princess Adventures, and What Remains of Edith Finch at the PlayStation Experience there has certainly been a sense of cohesiveness, a new era and everyone seems excited to bring incredible experiences to the new PlayStation 4.

However, what may be most exciting to take from the message is its brief mention of an upcoming March event.

In late March we are going to celebrate 10-years of God of War in a special anniversary celebration for our fans. Hey, that’s you. We’re looking forward to this.

As are we.

My Opinion:

With the PlayStation Experience news revealing that a new God of War is in development, the waters are feeling warmer for an imminent announcement of the new game. Even though Santa Monica Studio is fattening its portfolio with a sizeable number of collaborative projects, the developer could really use a AAA win. March could end up being a very important month for the future of the God of War franchise.
