As 2014 began to wind down, so did the new releases, but that didn’t stop game sales! Here are the games that many PlayStation owners got for the holidays.
For the PlayStation 4, the best-seller was the current gen version of Grand Theft Auto V. Next was the console version of Minecraft (which has ensnared our editor-in-chief), followed by Battlefield 4. The Walking Dead: Season 2 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare round out the top five. Also notable on the list is Game of Thrones: Season 1 Episode 1 at number 7, MONG’s Game of the Year Dragon Age: Inquisition at number 9, The Crew at number 12 and MONG’s PS4 Game of the Year Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor at number 20.
The PlayStation 3 also saw some love over the wintery month. While Minecraft, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Battlefield 4 clinched the top 3, South Park: The Stick of Truth managed to be the first game at number 4 to be completely previous generation. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag claimed the fifth slot. Other games of note include Destiny at number 7, Gran Turismo 6 at number 9 and Slender: The Arrival at number 17.
Over the holiday month, many people found comfort in the Vita. The top 3 are Minecraft, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Freedom Wars appeared at number 8 on the list while Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair got mighty number 9.
However, the most notable purchase from this chart is actually a PS Classic: Suikoden II, which topped the Classics chart in December. Suikoden followed as well as Final Fantasy VII.
My Opinion:
I love playing Suikoden II on my Vita. It is a great game that I’m glad my friends have recommended me. Other than that, it doesn’t surprise me that December had many Minecraft purchases. I mean, I almost purchased it myself. I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for the PlayStation Nation.
