Sudden news recently from the Wall Street Journal claims that a live-action Legend of Zelda television show is in the works.
The Wall Street Journal’s “person familiar with the matter” is claiming that Netflix characterized the show as a “Game of Thrones for a family audience.”
In line with the video game series, the show will be based on a boy named Link who is charged in rescuing Princess Zelda all while saving the Hyrule kingdom. With this, the report mentions that they don’t have a writing team and that it can be a “long road to travel” before traction on this project begins.
IGN reached out for a comment by Netflix, but they refused to make a statement.

My Opinion:
My first reaction when I saw the article was that it’s an early April Fool’s joke. I thought of IGN’s fake trailer of a live-action movie and pondered that it might be a continuation of it. However, the more news and attention it gets, the more likely it becomes an actual possibility. Netflix is having incredible success with their own shows, so it only seems natural that I would have immense confidence in their ability to produce a quality piece of entertainment. Until Netflix makes some sort of official statement I will only be partially excited (so I don’t get too upset if it never comes to fruition).
