In a pleasant surprise, more news about the formerly dark project Deep Down has come to light. Following the news two weeks ago that Capcom is indeed still working on Deep Down, an interview with producers Yoshinori Ono and Kazunori Sugiura done by Famitsu led to some new information regarding Deep Down’s release and a tease of something big.
The first bit of news pertains to just when we should expect to see Deep Down hit PlayStation 4s near us. There is still no solid release date, but Ono did mention that work on Dragon’s Dogma Online is the top priority right now. They’re working on Deep Down behind the scenes, so all they can do is ask fans for more time.
The second piece of news, revealed was by Sugiura, news that Capcom is planning to support Deep Down for 15 years! Sugiura admitted that they definitely don’t expect for the graphics to stay up to snuff that whole time. Unfortunately, Sugiura didn’t mention what exactly this 15 years of support will mean.
The 15 years of support isn’t even the big news. However, we’re not sure what the big news is. Ono just mentioned that whatever the surprise is might be made known to the public this year.
Be ready to sink your teeth into the free-to-play Dark Souls-esque RPG whenever it launches.
My Opinion:
Good news is good news, even if it’s all fairly vague. I’ve been excited for Deep Down since I first saw the trailer and the news of the IP not being dead definitely brought a smile to my face. Now hearing that Deep Down will be supported for 15 years just makes me even more excited to hear more about the zany future, medieval, time travel adventure… which is also free-to-play. I admit, a game that doesn’t drain me for $64 “money points” already has my attention.
