The MOBA Scene Grows with Supernova

Robots and the MOBA genre are finally coming together as one with the announcement of Supernova. Sci-fi geeks and gamers are gonna be pretty happy with this one.

Supernova was announced just a short time ago by Bandai Namco Games and they’re teaming up with Supernova’s developer, Primal Game Studio, to bring it to your PCs.

In Supernova, humans and aliens will be pitted against one another and they’re both packing arsenals of weapons that inspire mad scientists’ dreams. When you sit down to a match of Supernova you’ll have the power of robots, cyborgs and “interstellar races adapted to the unyielding harshness of space” at your finger tips.

I’m sure everyone is asking themselves why they should care about the umpteenth MOBA to hit the scene this year. Beyond the sci-fi spin, Primal is making a bit of a push to go back to the more RTS roots of the MOBA genre. They’re also putting more of a focus on the little guys.

When it comes to Supernova, you’ll find yourself putting more thought into customizing your minions. You will have to make the decision of what kinds of minions to spawn, ground vehicles, aircrafts or infantry and they’re also highly customizable.

If you’re still on the fence, check out the gameplay trailer below! Supernova is slated to invade your PC sometime this year.

My Opinion:

Though I’m horrible at other certain popular MOBA franchises, I can’t help but enjoy the game mechanics. I like that everyone starts (pretty much) on an even playing field and they work up to their strongest state pretty evenly. Of course, that assumes that there’s not someone who’s just wrecking everyone else. Regardless, I enjoy sci-fi things as well as RTS games. Hopefully Supernova will be the correct mixing of both that I can get down with.
