Among other exciting PlayStation Network reveals today, PlayStation finally announced this month’s titles for the Instant Game Collection.
New ‘n’ Tasty! is a remastered version of the original Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee for the PlayStation. Controlling Abe, players are able to save his people from a dastardly meat processing facility, all the while soaking in the enhanced visuals, sounds, and controls.
Meanwhile, Valiant Hearts (which we gave an 8.1 out of 10) tells a traumatic story in the midst of a World War I backdrop. The 6-7 hour story from Ubisoft gives a unique mix of narrative, puzzles, and history to deliver one of the best “indie” titles of 2014.
In Papo & Yo, you follow a young boy named Quico and his best friend Monster through a magical and surreal world, all the way solving puzzles.
Crimes & Punishments brings the classic hero-sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, to life. Instead of focusing on a traditional Holmes story, Frogwares decided to the detective to Dostoyevsky’s “Crime and Punishment.” Any fan of adventure games or mysteries will surely want to grab this one.
OlliOlli2 (which will be available for download on both Vita and PS4) is a high-score chasing skateboarding game. The simplistic indie title adds to the original OlliOlli by refining the combo system, adding new modes, and much more.
To wrap it up, CounterSpy by Dynamighty (available on all PS3, PS4, and Vita) is a stylish 2.5D side-scroller with substantial stealth elements. The game takes place during an alternate-history Cold War, focusing on the subterfuge and covert operations of the time.
I was getting a little worried with the long delay, however PlayStation really knows how to make it worth it. Both CounterSpy and Valiant Hearts have been on my shortlist for a long time. In fact, there is nothing on the list that I am not looking forward to trying. If you aren’t subscribed to PlayStation Plus, this month is the month to reconsider.
