PS4 and Vita To Launch In China March 20th

Sony has announced the date that the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita will at last be released in China.  Initially slated to launch in January, the consoles will hit shelves on March 20th.

After the termination of a ban on foreign console sales that lasted 14 years, the consoles will be Sony’s first ever to launch in China.

Price points are slightly higher than those sold in the U.S., with the PS4 coming in at 2,899 Yuan (468 USD) and the Vita at 1,299 Yuan (210 USD).

Initial launch line-up titles for each system can be seen below:

My Opinion:

I’m interested to see how the PS4 and Vita sell during their Chinese launch. My interest is not only in comparing sales of the PS4 and Xbox One, but in how a new handheld may go over. While I do not foresee strong sales initially due to a small launch line-up and the culture of PC free-to-play games, it will be interesting to monitor nonetheless, being Sony’s first foray into console gaming in China.
