Amiibo Sales Reach 3.5 Million in the U.S.

Nintendo has announced that their interactive amiibo figures have sold 3.5 million units in the US alone.

Launched in November 2014, Americans have demonstrated an insatiable thirst for amiibo. Many figures have sold out almost immediately upon release and have not been seen since. It makes you wonder how many figures would have sold if supply had met demand.

Nintendo also stated that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has sold 1.5 million copies in the US. Uncle Sam sure does love him some Smash.

The Super Mario line of amiibo launches on March 20th, while Wave 4 of the Super Smash Bros. figures will launch sometime this spring.

My Opinion:

After seeing how difficult it is to obtain some of these figurines, I’m not surprised that sales are so high. I hope future waves of amiibo are easier to obtain, and considering the potential profits, I think Nintendo would agree.
