Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai recently announced the Mewtwo DLC would be coming soon.
At an event in Japan, Sakurai said that development on the additional character was “pretty much done,” and that the fighter should be releasing soon.
The legendary Pokemon made his first appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee, but he was replaced by Lucario in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The Mewtwo DLC was announced shortly before Super Smash Bros. for Wii U launched and it will be coming to both the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U.
Those who purchased and registered both the Nintendo 3DS version and the Wii U version by March 31, 2015 will receive the brawler for free. The character will also be available for purchase as DLC.
I am way more excited to play as Mewtwo again than I should be. I didn’t even care for him that much in Melee, but the idea that Nintendo may be open to adding more characters in the future has me very excited.
