Spotify launches exclusively on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 today in 41 different markets.
You will be controlling the music on the PS4 or PS3 through the iOS or android app. Furthermore, you will not need PlayStation Plus or Spotify Premium to use Spotify on either system.
Spotify Premium is a paid service ($9.99/£9.99 per month) where users can listen to their music without ads and offline on their smart devices. There are two ways that PlayStation users can get a free trial:
- If you’ve never tried Spotify before, you can get a 30 day free trial.
- If you’ve got a music unlimited account, as of March 29, you’ll get two free months of Spotify Premium.
Sony is calling this partnership with Spotify “exclusive”; so, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing an Xbox One Spotify app anytime soon.
My Opinion:
As someone who uses Spotify regularly, I am really jealous of PS4 and PS3 owners. But, hopefully it will be a great addition to the PlayStation ecosystem and I’m looking forward to new Spotify partnerships in the future.
