April’s Xbox One Update Has Arrived

Xbox One users will now have access to another round of new features, following the roll out of April’s system update.

As announced on Major Nelson’s blog, the full list of new features available are as follows:

  • Party Chat Improvements
  • Game Hub Links
  • Achievement Notifications
  • What’s On

The additional Achievement Notifications allow users to see the details of the achievement they have just earned, without having to open the achievements app.

The What’s On area is a new addition to the Dashboard and is now available to users in the US, Canada and UK. In this area you will see recommended videos and game broadcasts, along with trending TV shows if you have configured OneGuide with your console.

Two features not making it into the final update is voice messaging and dedicated servers for party chat. Following feedback from preview members, both of these feature will remain in preview in order to fine-tune them for public release.

My Opinion:

As a preview member I can already say I love the Achievement Notification feature. Whilst it may seem like a small change, it is a big improvement to the overall experience as I no longer have to go out of my game to see what I just achieved!
