Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed that it won’t hold a press conference at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
In a statement to VideoGamer.com, SCEE confirmed that they will instead hold a media briefing during the Paris Games Week on October 27th.
With the changes this year of E3 taking place a week later and Gamescom taking place earlier, we feel that both PlayStation and the wider industry would benefit from a major news milestone later in the year, during the most important period for gaming. We are excited about our plans and look forward to sharing some exciting announcements. We will share more information closer to the time.
This is the first time Sony won’t hold a press conference for Gamescom since the event’s creation in 2009. Gamescom starts on August 5th and runs until the 9th.
My Opinion:
With all the extra conferences we’re getting this E3, I’m surprised to see one less for Gamescom. It’s still not the size E3 is and I’m sure European gamers will be disappointed. Still, I’d rather Sony take their time so they can announce something significant. Luckily, that will still happen in Europe during the Paris Games Week.
