Tony Hawk rides again.
After a few hints about the franchise being reborn, Activision, Disruptive Games and Robomodo have announced that Tony’s Hawk Pro Skater 5 will be hitting PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2015, with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions following afterwards.
The game will feature the classic gameplay of the previous Tony’s Hawk Pro Skater games with a bit of a twist. Taking a cue from Mario Kart, the fifth entry will feature powerups like projectiles to help skaters with select missions, which can be done competitively, cooperatively or completely solo. Characters that are leveled up online can be carried offline and back again, and created skate parks can also be carried the same way. Finally, favorite faces will be returning to the franchise and will be joining some fresh faces. The confirmed characters include Nyjah Huston, Aaron Homoki, Ishod Wair, Riley Hawk, Lizzie Armanto, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Leticia Bufoni and Andrew Reynolds.
I doubt that many people still want a game like this, but I do know some people still popping in some other Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. With Tony Hawk looking more like Mario Kart, I could see this being a bit of fresh air after SKATE bit the pavement.
