The PlayStation Vita is getting another role-playing game in the form of Ar Nosurge: Ode to An Unborn Star Plus. It is set to hit the Vita on July 1st in Europe and July 2nd in North America.
Ar Nosurge is a prequel to the wonderful Ar Tonelico series. Ode to an Unborn Star Plus puts you in control of two separate couples that you control through exploring and battling. The “Hero” character acts as the tank and takes the hits and deals the damage. The “Heroine” stands in the back and buffs characters with songs. Music is integral to the story. The adventure starts out with a song known as “Ciel N Protecta” being stolen and causing all the machinery to go haywire. Our heroes must band together to uncover the mystery and defeat the evils of their world, standard for Japanese role-playing games.
Ar Nosurge comes from Gust Co. Ltd., the masterminds behind the niche but well received game serieses; Ar Tonelico, Atelier Iris, Mana Khemia. Koei Tecmo is publishing the game in Europe, while NIS is releasing it in North America. It’s safe to assume that it will retain its’ “T” rating like its PlayStation 3 counterpart.
My Opinion:
We are living in a renaissance of JRPG’s. Porting PlayStation 3 games that some may have missed to the Vita is a brilliant idea that seems to be working. Now, if only we can get some more Tales games or Star Oceans on there, I would never turn off my Vita.
Bryan McCutchan Seems to love RPS because that’s what he keeps writing about. Go laugh at him on Facebook and Twitter.
