Bethesda Reveals DOOM For The First Time

Yesterday, Bethesda finally revealed some gameplay footage of DOOM at their first ever E3 Conference. The game showed off some of its single player, multiplayer, as well as a new tool called DOOM: Snapmap.

The new gameplay showed big open areas as well as a few weapons that will be in the game including two types of shotguns, a plasma rifle, a chain gun and a chainsaw. There will also be brutal melee finishers for players to pull off. Bethesda and ID Software promise a faster single player experience, returning to that what made DOOM so legendary.

The other aspect they showed was the multiplayer. Large arena based maps, power ups, faster gameplay, and more gameplay modes. If you happened to own a copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order, you can play the DOOM Beta once it hits in the coming months.

A new feature for DOOM is DOOM: Snapmap. This will allow players from across platforms to create and share maps and gameplay types. DOOM: Snapmap gives players the ultimate freedom to create any map or game type they envision. If you wanted to recreate the original DOOM, you can do that.

DOOM is coming out in Spring 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

My Opinion:

What they showed reminded me of DOOM so much. It’s fast, violent, gory, and it looks like a lot of fun. I can’t wait to play this new edition of the DOOM series. While I’m not a big multiplayer person, the fact that I can create maps and game types makes me optimistic about the replay value of the game.
