In a shocking announcement in Microsoft’s E3 press conference, Phil Spencer announced that there will be backwards compatibility to Xbox One allowing Xbox 360 games to be played on Xbox One. Right now there are 22 games ready to be played with more coming in the following months.
The games that can be played right now for Xbox Preview Members are:
Nearly everything you can do to Xbox One can be used for Xbox 360 games like using Twitch, record gameplay footage and taking screenshots. It’s expected that nearly 100 games will be available to play by the end of the year. If you happened to own a Xbox 360 game you can put it in your Xbox One console and you can download the game for free. If you happen to own any arcade games you can download them through the Xbox store. More titles will be available soon and in their website you can vote on which games will be the first to be part of the roll out for compatability.
My Opinion:
This is BIG. Game changing big. Nearly everyone wants a console with backward compatibility and while Sony tried this with PlayStation Now, it was never a perfect solution because of those prices and the fact you needed a constant online connection. With THIS, Microsoft instantly got the upper hand when it comes to playing previous gen games with a current gen console.
