Shin Megami Tensei is Atlus’ flagship title and it spawned a bunch of spin off including the Devil Survivor, Devil Summoner, Digital Devil Saga and Persona games. The fourth game in the mainline series, Shin Megami Tensei IV, was released in 2013.
The Shin Megami Tensei line will have 3 games out this year. One, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker for the 3DS, which is out now. Persona 5 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 with a still unknown release date, although Atlus is saying it’s coming for both Japan and the Americas in 2015. Lastly, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. That game will be released for the Wii U in Japan in 2015 while coming stateside in 2016.
Having this many copies sold in the span of two years show how niche this series still is, despite the growing popularity of the Persona series. It would be great if Atlus releases a remake of Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne and the Digital Devil Saga games. It is interesting how Atlus considers this a success while other publishers would have considered this a disaster.
