The first trailer showed the cast of the game which includes Shawn Ashmore (X-Men), Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings) and Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones). The trailer also showed off an extensive look at the game play as well as some of the story. The gameplay is what you usually get with a Remedy game, a third person shooter with an interesting gimmick. The gimmick this time is the ability to slow down time all around you or in a small area. This will change the way you can handle whatever is ahead of you. It seems you can also use this to uncover the story as you weave back to the past.
Along with the game, there will also be a Quantum Brake TV series. It’s unknown whether this will be a one season only type series, or a continuation of the game’s story. It will feature the same actors in the game as well as other actors including Lance Reddick (LOST). If the game features the heroes, then the show will feature the villains.
Both Quantum Break properties will arrive on April 5th, 2015 exclusively for the Xbox One.
I’ve been a fan of Remedy since I first played the original Max Payne on the PlayStation 2. While they don’t pump out games a fast as other developers, they have a consistently better lineup. I still consider Alan Wake the best game of the Xbox 360, and seeing that Remedy has a new game coming out on the Xbox One makes me excited of what will happen. Quantum Break is my most anticipated Xbox One exclusive.
