Mortal Kombat Gets Super-Sized with Mortal Kombat XL Arriving in March

It was only a matter of time before the news came, but Warner Bros. has made it official.  Mortal Kombat X will be getting a Komplete Edition with the announcement of Mortal Kombat XL.

Releasing March 1st on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the aptly named Mortal Kombat XL will include all the game’s DLC.  The DLC packages include Kombat Pack 1 and Kombat Pack 2, which grant access to a host of new characters and skins.  It will be available digitally and physically at retail, with pre-orders giving players the Cosplay Pack.  The Cosplay Pack dons 2nd generation fighters Cassie Cage and Jacqui Briggs in Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu wardrobe, respectively.

At this time, there are no plans to release Mortal Kombat XL for PC. To see all that’s in store, watch the announcement trailer below.

My Opinion:

The news isn’t the least bit surprising, considering the same thing happened with Mortal Kombat last gen.  As someone who pre-ordered MKX and have been playing since launch, it doesn’t bother me.  MKX was one of my favorite games last year and the post-launch content hasn’t made me feel like I am missing out, even though some of the new characters are intriguing.  It would be nice to see the Kombat Packs at a reduced price come March though.
