Gamestop CEO reveals new details about the future of PlayStation VR
It appears that PlayStation VR will be released this fall instead of the first half of 2016. “We will launch the Sony Product this fall,” Paul Raines states during his interview with Fox News. Raines also suggests that the company is “in discussions with two other players”Those are presumably Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
Something also to keep in mind is PlayStation VR still does not have an official price. Although we have an idea of the price with Sony executive Andrew House hinting that PlayStation VR will be priced as a “new gaming platform.”
This news didn’t surprise me very much, and I assume it didn’t surprise most people. With how little details and footage we have about PS VR it’s a breathe of relief that we are getting it in 2016 at all. As someone who is still speculative of the Virtual Reality revolution, this isn’t the end of the world for me. I am mostly a supporter of delays so the developer can take as much time as it needs to make a perfect product. With a price point that isn’t sounding out of this world and compatibility with PS4 , it is seeming more and more like PS VR will be the forerunner of this revolution. Here’s to hoping it’s not another PS Move!
