Instead of the subtitle being “Final”, it’s now called Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse. They have released a trailer to go along with the announcement.
John Hardin, the PR Manager of Atlus USA, gave the reasoning behind the name change here in an Atlus USA blog post. In short, it had to be marketable, couldn’t be too long and it had to fit with the theme of the game, thus Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse was born.
Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse will arrive exclusively to the Nintendo 3DS sometime this Summer. According to Gamestop and Amazon, the release date is September 20th, 2016, but that can change.
I made the idiotic decision of getting rid of my 3DS last year, and with this announcement I am paying the price. The original Shin Megami Tensei IV was one of the few games I played for the 3DS and I greatly enjoyed it. I’m not going to promise myself, but if I can I might be able to get the New Nintendo 3DS by the end of the year. This, of course, depends on the Persona 5 factor. If I do get a New Nintendo 3DS, I’ll rebuy Shin Megami Tensei IV and then get this. If I still had the 3DS, this would definitely be in my most anticipated year list.
