Yesterday, Focus Home Interactive announced that they are making a game based off of H.P Lovecraft’s most famous story, Call of Cthulhu.
The new game is based off both a long running pen and paper RPG and the Lovecraft story. To keep in tune with the pen and paper game, Call of Cthulhu will have RPG elements as well as stealth and psychological horror.
The story will focus on an private investigator set to discover the death of a family on a secluded island in the 1920s. It looks that it will not only cover the Call of Cthulhu short story, but other writings of Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos.
Call of Cthulhu will arrive for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2017.
While I’m not a BIG fan of Lovecraft, I do like him enough to read some of his work. If this game can match the Lovecraftian horror his writings are known for, it would make me excited to play this. Whether I get this or not remains to be seen.
