Next installment in the Sonic series announced by Sega

Coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo NX.

During a livestream last night dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Sonic franchise, Sega finally unveiled the long rumored and heavily teased next game in the series — Project Sonic 2017 (though this won’t be the official name, just a placeholder one).

According to the game’s debut teaser trailer, Project Sonic, will feature two variations of Sonic the Hedgehog: his modern incarnation, and his shorter and stouter Sonic that hews more closely to the original design of character from the Sega Genesis era.

Beyond that, not much was not divulged by Sega. From the trailer we can see the game is set in a ruinous world being overrun by robots. Further, that the trailer encourages players to “join the resistance.”

The game will be a “brand new experience” by Sonic Team, and will arrive Holiday 2017. It will also be the first new entry into the series since Sega started its new initiative to treat its IP with more care and make better quality games.

My Opinion:

IT’S SAAANIC EVERYBODY! I like the Sonic franchise, but haven’t liked any of the games for quite some time. However, I’m excited to see a brand new Sonic experience, from what is supposedly a brand new Sega.
