Originally slated to release September 6th, XCOM 2 will now release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 27th.
Announced at Take-Two’s Q1 2017 earnings calls, the delay pushes the game’s release more towards the fall rush and into stiffer competition, notably the mega-launch of FIFA 17. The publisher did not provide a reason for the delay. There was no information provided of how this affects the global release, which was initially three days behind the original North American release.
In case you didn’t know: the port job has been handed out to new developer The Workshop, a studio founded by Treyarch veterans.
XCOM 2 first released back on Feburary 5th of this year, garnering an impressive 88 on Metacritic upon release.
My Opinion:
I originally had a whole week to play this game. Now that it’s releasing the same day as FIFA 17, I have no clue when I’ll be able to play it. The video games gods have forsaken me.
