A new report suggest that the Nintendo NX is going to renounce the solid + style D-pad of past Nintendo consoles, in favor of a Sony style ‘split’ D-pad design; it also indicates the NX will have a PS4 style share button
The report has since been corroborated by a few sources, including: Nintendo Life, Nintendo insider Emily Rogers (via NeoGAF), and Let’s Play Video Games.
Both of these features were leaked supposedly by a dev kit unit. All the sources agree the Share button will make it on the final manufacturing unit, but weren’t positive whether the new style D-pad would.
The Share button (which could be called the “Social” button) will allow users to upload screenshots and short images to Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Miiverse.
As always, take these reports with a grain of salt. For all we known, aliens are behind them.
My Opinion:
If these reports are true, it will be a good sign for the NX, as it would finally show that Nintendo is actually taking inspiration from the rest of the industry, and not being insular like it was with the Wii U.
