Poor, poor Wii U and PlayStation Vita players, no Hyper Light Drifter for you.
In an update on Kickstarter, developer Alex Preston (of the independent company Heart Machine), provided a video explaining that the previously-announced Wii U and PS Vita versions of the game have officially been cancelled.
The reasoning for the cancellation was cited as health issues. Kickstarter backers that opted for either the Wii U or PS Vita version of the game will be able to exchange for the PS4, Xbox One, or PC versions, or request a full refund for the title.
Hyper Light Drifter is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It currently sits in the low 80’s on Metacritic.
My Opinion:
To be honest, in 2016, it’s really not worth releasing on either pieces of hardware (at least most of the time). I personally rather just see Heart Machine take a break, and then move onto the next project.
