The delays keep coming for Sony 1st party titles. Gravity Rush 2 is now the latest PlayStation 4 game to suffer the fate.
News comes by way of The PlayStation Blog that Gravity Rush 2 will now release in early 2017. Similar to the most recent The Last Guardian delay, Gravity Rush 2 has shifted its release only slightly. Now the game is set to release January 18th in Europe, 19th in Japan, and 20th in the United States.
The cause for the original December release changing was cited as the “landscape for that release date has changed dramatically.” Additionally, the developer wants as many people to experience the game at the same time for the “online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction.” Not all the news was bad, as it was announced due to the delayed release, the premium story DLC will now be released for free.
My Opinion:
Man, the hits just keep coming for Sony exclusive titles. Earlier in the year, Horizon Zero Dawn was moved to 2017. GT Sport followed suit, The Last Guardian had a slight delay, and now this. It will be another holiday season where Sony relies on the strength of 3rd party games and perhaps the promise of PSVR. The delay does make sense though, as a title like Gravity Rush 2 would have gotten buried in the holiday shuffle.
