Yooka-Laylee Gets A Release Date

In the early hours, Playtonic Games announced that Yooka-Laylee is finally getting a release date. Along with this news, they also released a new gameplay trailer to show off a new area.

The new trailer reveals a new world called Captain Cashino. The new world is set in a casino and has everything you’d expect in a casino. Slots, craps tables, and even a disco room. There will also be areas that will be for employees only that you can fully explore.

Playtonic Games has said that there will be many modes into the game including; minicart challenges, arcade games, quiz shows, with even multiplayer mode and so much more.

If there is one sad news about this, is that it seems the Wii U version has been cancelled. The upside is that Playtonic is working closely with Nintendo to make Yooka-Laylee come to the Nintendo Switch. Any Kickstarter backers that wanted a Wii U version can now pick again to their console of choice completely free including the Nintendo Switch version. The Nintendo Switch version will have a different release date than the rest.

Yooka-Laylee is being released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on April 11, 2017 for $39.99. If you pre-order the game, you’ll gain access to the Toybox Demo, which will give you an idea of what to expect of the game.

My Opinion:

I’m really excited for this game, but the only thing that sucks for me is that release date. It’s released a week after Persona 5 and anything before and after that release date is Persona 5’s territory, nothing else matters. I have every intention on getting Yooka-Laylee, but I’m going to have to wait a bit longer than I wanted to.
