Games to be pumped for in 2017

One of the most exciting parts of the new year is looking forward to all the new games we get to play! 2016 treated us decently, however deep down I have a feeling 2017 is sneakily going to be one of the best years in gaming we have had in awhile.

2017 will see a large amount of sequels to great games. Inevitably as sequels go, there will be a disappointment or two but I think we can expect the most from games like Red Dead Redemption 2, and Battlefront 2.

The games that are likely going to open your wallets and close off your social lives are:

Star wars Battlefront 2 – Fall 2017

Star Wars Battlefront 1 was a great game. The visuals and sounds are nearly untouchable. However it seemed to lack in content, most notably a Star Wars campaign that gamers are dying for! Battlefront 2 is seemingly trying to convince us that this won’t be the case for the second installment. We have been promised a single player campaign, and “bigger and better worlds” than the first game. BF1 mainly took place in the original trilogy, however BF2 is said to expand into the new trilogy and is likely to give us playable Rey and Finn characters! In summary a good multiplayer getting improved and a campaign being added in is more than enough to excite me!

Guardians of the Galaxy (TellTale) – Sometime 2017

Telltale has properly convinced me that they have no troubles taking a beloved series and making a great game out of it. Telltale games have produced some amazing stories the past years and I have zero doubt in my mind that this will be any different! In this installment you get to play as everyone’s favorite outer space outlaw, Star-Lord. I think Telltale is trustworthy enough to be handed the reigns to a Marvel story.

Outlast 2 – Q1 2017

The first Outlast scared the jeepers out of most who played it! The dark Asylum and psycho characters made for quite the scary game. Developer Red Barrels seems to be taking the game in the right direction by putting it into a new setting (not revealed yet) and postponing the initial release date. “Our mission as an indie studio is to deliver to you the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling experiences possible. That’s why we’re taking just a little bit more time to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve.”. Said Red Barrels when asked about the delay. Personally I can’t wait to get my hands on Outlast 2, and if you love horror games like me, then this is definitely a game to open your wallet for!

Prey – Sometime 2017

Prey has slowly gained more and more interest since its announcement at E3 2016. Prey is shaping up to be Bethesda’s shot at an action/adventure horror game. little about Prey is known but it does take place around the year 2030 and involves scary looking creatures trying to kill you! Normally a game like this from other developers would not generate much attention but since it’s from the almighty Bethesda, people should expect a fun game!

Red Dead Redemption 2 – Fall 2017

The Red Dead series is easily one of the most beloved series in gaming, which is quite the title considering there’s only one installment so far! We still know very little about Red Dead 2 but we do know the people making it. Rockstar has a goofy but amazing formula they use to make us smile, laugh, and cry. I have no doubt in my mind that they will be careful in giving us our dearly needed Red Dead 2!

Resident Evil 7 – January 24th

The Resident Evil series is widely considered the father of all modern day horror games. RE7 looks to carry on the legacy with a bold new game. RE7 takes place in a mansion owned by the killer, psychotic Baker family. You must try to escape and avoid being found by the members of the family. There’s an overwhelming sense of vulnerability that shrouds you in fear and helplessness. RE7 looks to immerse you fully with the seemingly lack of HUD and very little tutorial. I personally can’t wait to scream in terror like a 5 year old girl!

There are many other games to be pumped for, games not on this list, the little gems we look over that will steal the show, and games that haven’t even been announced yet. No matter the case I’m excited to delve into the gaming year of 2017, and you should be too.
