Mr. Plinkett Reviews Horizon: Zero Dawn – “…I hate it, it’s awful!”

Red Letter Media (RLM) is well known for its humorous and informative movie reviews, but its gaming-centric offshoot recently cast a critical eye at Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Rich Evans (known for playing Harry S. Plinkett in RLM’s Half In The Bag film review show), and fellow RLM Best of the Worst guest star Jack Packard recently took a look at the latest AAA PlayStation 4 exclusive. As part of the Previously Recorded video game review web series on their youtube channel of the same name, the hilarious pair compared their experiences with Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Notably, Jack finds story-driven titles with numerous cutscenes to be quite grating, and Rich rarely enjoys his field trips outside the realm of PC gaming — and yet they both found Horizon to be worth playing overall. While neither individual finished the game for various reasons (Rich detests playing shooters with thumbsticks, and Jack grew tired of the game’s hand-holding navigational system) their general positivity resonates as high praise from two tough game critics.

My Opinion:

I have yet to play Horizon: Zero Dawn for myself, but I’ve been hearing almost universal praise. Jack and Rich are tough to please when it comes to video games, so their positive comments definitely pique my interest. But c’mon, Rich… controllers aren’t that bad.
