The cast for the 80’s video game inspired movie Rampage, starring Dwayne Johnson, continues to grow. Malin Akerman is set to join the film in a villainous role according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Akerman is set to play “a calculating head of a tech company that is behind the monsters.” The monsters of course being the transformed gorilla, crocodile, and wolf that served as the main characters in the classic arcade game. Naturally when monsters get out control, ready to lay waste and cause mayhem, who better to step in than “The Rock.”
Rampage is scheduled to release April 20, 2018 and sees Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson re-team with his San Andreas director, Brad Peyton.
The string of video game movies continues to chug along, despite not seeing much critical or commercial success at the box office. Rampage on paper seems like a good fit for adaptation, as all you really need to take from the game are the monsters. The Rock is a big star and I like Malin Akerman. I recommend checking out The Final Girls, underrated movie and she has a good performance in it.
