April’s NPD report reveals Titanfall as the best selling game of the month and the PlayStation4 as the top selling console of the month.
Nobody was surprised to find the PS4 atop the hardware sales for the month as it has held that position for the last four months. Hardware sales have caused a 17% growth in video game sales overall.
“Life to date, sales of PS4 and Xbox One hardware have more than doubled the combined sales of PS3 and 360 hardware through their first six months of sales,” says NPD analyst Liam Callahan.
Along the lines of software sales, LEGO games were big in the month of April claiming 3 out of the top ten spots. This is Titanfall’s second month at number one with Call of Duty: Ghosts falling not too far behind.
Here is the complete list:
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Minecraft for Xbox 360
LEGO The Hobbit
The LEGO Movie Videogame
LEGO Marvel Superheroes
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Grand Theft Auto V
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
I wasn’t shocked at the numbers for the month of April. Titanfall was a huge game, and the only real competition for the PS4 is the Xbox One which is 2 million consoles behind. I am excited to see AC4 still up among the top ten even though it came out last year. Other than the LEGO games, there’s nothing too surprising here.
