Earlier in the week Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be coming to the West for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Originally, it was announced incorrectly as coming to PS Vita as well, but that has since been retracted as a misprint.
Final Fantasy Type-0 is a PlayStation Portable game that was not previously released outside of Japan. It was originally announced in 2006 as a mobile game called Final Fantasy Agito XIII before being renamed and moved to PSP and released in 2011.
The game’s director, Hajime Tabata had this to say about the re-release, “The voice of our western fans was instrumental in the development of Final Fantasy Type-0, and we’re very excited to release this title soon. [PlayStation 4 and Xbox One] have really helped to re-envision this dynamic and turbulent world of Orience.”
The game is about the stories of Class Zero, two magically-endowed students from the Peristylium, a magic academy in the country of Suzaku. The Milites Empire launches an assault on the other nations of Orience and seeks to control their crystals. When Suzaku is attacked, Class Zero are called into action and become entangled in both the efforts to push back and defeat the forces of Milites, and reveal the secret behind the war and the existence of the crystals.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD does not currently have a release date for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
My Opinion:
This is awesome news! I always love it when games find a way to make it to the West, and especially when it is a Final Fantasy or Tales game. It becomes even more awesome when it is a game that was announced almost a decade ago! I can’t wait to see more about the HD port of it soon!
