The Geekend Update: 6/27/14

Weekends are meant strictly for gaming; at least that’s what we think. Here is where you can find out all of our crazy plans for the upcoming weekend!

Courtney Osborn, Founder & Editor in Chief:

This weekend will probably be dominated by Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World!  I am absolutely loving it so far!  It is much better than most Tales fans have led me to believe.  I can’t wait to see how the story shapes  up.  Other than that you can find me on Mario Kart in the evenings.  Add me on Nintendo Network at osborn2009.

Lou Contaldi, Senior Editor:

(Lou disappeared for the weekend again, so I am hacking his.  Lou sucks. THE END!) -Courtney

Shawn Richards, Editor:

Hello. You have reached an automated message from Shawn M. Richards. He is currently unavailable to reach the page due to an addiction to Terraria. Please reach him later @LittleBigHamm on Twitter.

Brendan Jester, Editor:

This weekend I’ll finally be able to start on Black Flag which I’ve been unable to play for the past few weeks. I’ve kept spoilers away from me for almost a year so I’m ready to be pleasantly surprised by the game. On top of that I might start looking for a new MMO to waste my soul on.

Steven Shearer, Editor:

Very similar to last week. I won’t be gaming that much due to the World Cup, however, If I am playing it will be either FIFA 14 or Football Manager 2014.

Ryan Latuso, Editor:

I have been playing way too many games lately and I need to beat sometime to trim the list down. I’ll be playing Shovel Knight, Bravely Default, Watch Dogs, Half Life, and Borderlands 2 whenever someone is up for co-op.  There are plenty of other small ones I play for short period of time but those are the main games.

Dustin LaRoe, Editor:

It looks like I’ll get a chance to start Wolfenstein: The New Order this weekend. I will have to blast through the end of Far Cry 3 first. I’m not really into the idea of playing two different single-player FPS stories at the same time.

As always, I’ll still have Mario Kart 8 and Mario Golf to keep me busy if I feel like a burst of our fun. I recently went back to NESRemix to unlock/beat all the challenges. That’s a fun game to play with my family, taking turns on each challenge.

Benjamin Luthi, Editor:

Gonna spend the weekend working my way through Pushmo World. I’ve finished the first 50 puzzles so far without much trouble, but those are just the easy ones, so I fully expect to rage quit at various points throughout the weekend. Expect a review in the next few days.

I may also spend some time working through my Steam backlog. I’ll finally get to Braid, and maybe continue Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien. And if there’s any time left, I might go back and play an episode of Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People for fun. I never get tired of those.

Myles Farrington, Editor:

I’m going to be a having a pretty normal weekend, actually. I doubt my job would start me on a Saturday, so I’ll likely be hanging out at home and doing a whole lot of nothing. Which isn’t a bad thing. If you wanna keep up with all of my nothing, feel free to follow me on twitter @FuriousMILK.

Aaron Dobbe, Editor:

I’ll be playing the new Vita release of BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma – keep an eye out for my review! As usual, you can expect I’ll end up getting in some Mario Kart 8 (must get that VR higher!) and Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate as well. Hit me up on Nintendo Network at Lavos5 and PSN at Eclns!

Audrey Lips, Editor:

Well, I’m going to have plenty of time to play games considering my car broke down on me. I’ll be playing Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite because why not–I love the games but I haven’t played them in a while. Additionally I’ll be playing Fallout 3 to further my nostalgia and cope with the fact that there was no Fallout 4 news at E3.

Mike Morrissette, Editor:

This weekend I’ll be trying out WildStar with some friends of mine from FFXIV. It’s also possible that Steam got the better of me this last few days, so I might have an extensive backlog of which I need to play through. Other than that though, I’ll just be working, and finishing up my summer classes!

Harry Loizides, Editor:

Hello all! I will be playing Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for the GBA (yes, I know-oldie but since I’ve never played it, figured it was worth it, and it is so far). And of course, I’ll be playing some Super Smash Bros Brawl!

Patrick Garrity, Editor:

Hello everyone!  This week I’m hoping to hit Gen1 in Titanfall PC.  I want to get some PS4 Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag. I usually stream this  I want to start Vanquish that I picked up on the Sega Sale for Xbox 360.  Catch me on twitch.  PSN: patgar36, Xbox Tag: patgar36. Later!

Andrew Lee, Editor:

Hi everybody. This week I jumping into the past and enjoying the stories of the first World War in Ubisoft’s Valiant Hearts: The Great War and taking in the sights of the city of Cloudbank in Transistor. I do have plans to purchase Divinity: Original Sin on Steam but don’t know if I have time to get around playing it. Remember guys, keep playing and have fun!

Shaun Fales, Editor:

Pokémon, lots and lots of Pokémon. I’ve got to be the very best, like no one ever was. Also, I might finally finish Outlast on Xbox One, but its only fun to play when its completely dark outside. This summer has to go by quick, I’m running out of stuff to play!

Jake Dekker, Editor:

Hi guys!  It looks I am going to be out of town all weekend so it looks like I am going to be playing a lot of 3DS and PS Vita.  I have a huge backlog on my Vita, but chances are I will just play more Fire Emblem: Awakening!  Have a great weekend!

What games are you playing this weekend?
