If you have a Nintendo Switch, chances are you’re in love with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The game is fantastic, and easily sets a high bar for the series (Double Dash shenanigans notwithstanding). Mario Kart’s debut on Switch has brought the masterful racer into the zeitgeist of gaming culture yet again, which has shone a spotlight on the game’s blistering difficulty mode: 200cc.

Dear Nintendo: Bring on the Wii U Ports
As soon as Mario exclaimed “MARIO KAAART EIIIIGGHHT” on the title screen of the recently released Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I knew I was done for. A game that I had sunk over 100 hours into on my maligned Wii U had hooked me again. Before I knew it, I was dusting Daisy so hard that Lakitu had to fish her across the finish line – snaking through dizzying turns like I had never put down the controller. In the 2 years since I had last tasted sweet gold, what had changed? The obvious answer is the bevy of features that earn Mario Kart 8 Deluxe its fancy new moniker, but their presence has provided microscopic returns in my limited playing time. If not that, then what? The answer is, again, obvious; the Nintendo Switch.

Like them or not, Season Passes are here to stay
Season passes are the black sheep of the gaming community. They deviously pry into our collective wallets in search of our precious cash, often in exchange for content we don’t fully understand. This earns them a spot atop our hit lists, and whenever a new pass is announced we grab our torches and pitchforks and set out to pillage the internet with angry comments across the datascape. The only thing that rivals the ire that season passes draw is, arguably, Nintendo. And luckily for us, these two juggernauts of vitriol crossed paths when Nintendo announced a season pass for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
