Koei Tecmo announced earlier this week on Famitsu that Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War & Nightmare is currently in development.
Producer of the game, Akihiro Suzuki, said this in the announcement:
It’s been seven years since we last got to work on Bladestorm, but finally we’re getting another shot at it! This is something that we as a company have wanted to do for a long time and fans have been especially vocal about their desires to see a new installment, so after much deliberation, we’ve opted to make this a reboot.
As such, not only are we looking to expand upon the foundation of the original game, but we also intend to introduce a load of new elements into the game. We’re not quite ready to talk about any specifics yet, so make sure to keep an eye on more news from us in the future as it comes.
Also, we’re soliciting options and requests, so I hope you’ll join us on this journey to help develop this game into the best that it can be.
There have been no announcements about which platforms the game will launch on or when it will be released.
My Opinion:
I really enjoyed my time with the original Bladestorm on Xbox 360 when I played it several years ago. I was able to connect with it much more than I can with Dynasty Warriors because of its familiar setting. This announcement made me really excited because I didn’t expect it in the least. I can’t wait to hear more about the changes they are making to the series.
