Nintendo is revving up this summer by announcing today that the Mercedes-Benz DLC for Mario Kart 8 will be coming to North America this August.
Nintendo of America previously confirmed the news that the Mercedes DLC karts would be coming to North America. However, today they announced that the official date of the release will be August 27th, the same date as Japan’s release of the DLC. The video also showcased three different models of karts: the compact SUV GLA, the vintage, formula racing W 25, and the sporty 300 SL Roadster vehicles.
My Opinion:
Having a Mercedes-Benz kart is not really something I’d put on the top of my wish list for Mario Kart 8 DLC. I would have rather had a new track or two announced. Really, the only one that kind of made sense and went with the flow of the game was the W 25.
But hey, it’s great promotional opportunities for both Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz so I completely understand why the DLC is a gripping sell. Also, they don’t look half bad; their sleek, silvery appearance will definitely garner some attention. Maybe I’ll find that the karts are actually pretty powerful for races too!
