Tearaway Unfolded Announced for PlayStation 4

Did you miss Tearaway on the PlayStation Vita? Well good news! Media Molecule announced that they will be bringing the game to PlayStation 4, according to Sony’s Gamescom Press Conference.

Media Molecule, in a following blog post, described how the PlayStation 4 iteration would affect the series. While the game is a retelling of the original game, it will be rebuilt “from the ground up” — PlayStation Vita specific actions (back touchpad and camera integration, for instance) will be done away with in favor of DualShock 4 specific actions. As an example, players may brighten up the screen with the light bar or use the touch pad to create a wind current.

Additionally, Tearaway Unfolded will be running at 60fps at 1080p, according to the blog post. Check out the beautifully presented teaser below:

As of yet, there is no set release date or price point for the game. However, 2015 would likely be a safe estimate.

My Opinion:

Tearaway is a game that I always meant to get into, but just didn’t have the time for. While I can rant for hours on end about up-scaled ports, Media Molecule knows how to handle their game with the care it deserves. A systemized rebuilding of the title will lead to a game that both new and old fans of the series can enjoy.
