Mortal Kombat X Gets A Release Date

Today, NetherRealm Studios has announced the release date for their newest game in the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat X. Along with a release date they also gave information regarding details of a pre-order incentive.

Mortal Kombat X will arrive for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on April 14, 2015. Like any new release, there is a pre-order bonus which will give you the ability to fight as Goro. Goro was first introduced in the first Mortal Kombat in 1992 and he was a sub-boss that you must defeat before fighting the main boss, Shang Tsung.

My Opinion:

Another game with a pre-order incentive. I am going to get Mortal Kombat X anyways, and fans of the series will also, but it seems to me that pre-orders are a way of trying to convince non-fans to get the game. The people that will likely pre-order the game are fans of the series in the first place, while people that won’t pre-order it are either not fans of the series or don’t know enough about the game to allow them to drop money on it. I was going to pre-order the game in the first place, regardless of pre-order incentives. I just hope that this is either a early access type pre-order or it will be released as free DLC down the line. I am excited about Mortal Kombat and that game has join the ranks of Batman: Arkham Knight, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Bloodborne, and possibly Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. These are the games coming out early next year that I am planning on getting.
