One of Microsoft’s stranger exclusives, simply titled D4 (Dark Dreams Don’t Die), will hit the Xbox Live Marketplace worldwide tomorrow for $14.99.
D4 is an episodic mystery adventure game from the mind of Hidetaka “Swery65” Suehiro. The game was originally announced at last year’s E3 during the Microsoft Press Conference and was expected to release shortly after the console’s launch.
D4 takes place two years after the protagonist’s wife was murdered. David Young has no recollection of the events surrounding the murder, however he can travel back in time by touching certain objects. Our hero uses this power in order to attempt to prevent the murder of his wife.
Swery65 was responsible for the equally strange game called Deadly Premonition, which launched back in 2010. Though the game had many problems, some critics praised it for its high ambition and strange direction.
My Opinion:
Oddly enough, I am excited for this game. I was one of the few that played Deadly Premonition, and despite its countless shortcomings, it had a weird charm to it that kept me playing. It looks like D4 might have that same quality to it.
