According to the official PlayStation Blog, access to online multiplayer will be available for all PlayStation 4 owners this weekend. Ordinarily, an active PlayStation Plus membership is required for equivalent access.
This comes on the heels of recent releases Destiny, Diablo 3, and Madden 15; titles that largely incorporate online mutliplayer. It appears that Sony may be attempting to recruit PS4 owners who are (for some reason) not yet members of PlayStation Plus. Access is limited to multiplayer only, as those who are not Plus members will not be able to take advantage of this month’s free games and discounts.
Free access begins Friday, September 26 at 12:01am PDT and runs through Sunday, September 28 at 11:59pm PDT. Will you be participating?
What are you waiting for? PlayStation Plus is a great value whether you own a PS3, PS4 or Vita. Free games and discounts more than make up for the $50 annual subscription fee. You probably don’t need a weekend of free multiplayer to figure this out, but its not surprising that Sony is trying to wrangle in those who are still skeptical. If you are still on the outside looking in, change that!
