It seems that The Evil Within will run at 30 frames per second on all platforms at release.
As stated on the official blog, The Evil Within will be 30fps on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC when it releases on October 14th. While there are options to change the framerate on the PC, this is limited and not recommended.
The blog post stated that the game is built around 2.35:1 aspect ratio and the 30 frames per second, and that gamers should not attempt to alter these settings as this is the way the game is meant to be played.
My Opinion:
I am slightly disappointed by this. I understand that 30fps gives games a more cinematic feel and maintains parity with former generation consoles; however, I feel like we have come to the point in the industry where we don’t have to restrict ourselves to this. PC gamers anticipate games with frame rates in the triple digits, but games like this with 30fps are only hindering the advances we could make.
