Fallout: Shadow of Boston Hoax

An application to trademark the title “Fallout: Shadow of Boston” was spotted by a NeoGaf user earlier today. However Bethesda has since stated “The German trademark filing that’s making the rounds is a hoax. This didn’t come from our offices”, causing sadness on every facet of the internet.

The product is described in the false application as “computer game discs; Downloadable computer game programs; Computer games program downloaded via the internet” and the owner is listed as listed as Bethesda Softworks LLC of Rockville, USA. These details were able to make the trademark seem legitimate, causing excitement all over the internet.

A Fallout game in Boston would have confirmed the 2012 rumors that Bethesda was visiting Boston for research for a new game. Unfortunately, Fallout fans are burned again by another hoax.

My Opinion:

Today I saw my excitement grow through the roof only to crash and burn by Bethesda’s statement.  This news will make me think twice next time I read any vague information about a new Fallout game.
