Nintendo of America announced that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has sold over 490,000 copies in the U.S. alone, making Super Smash Bros. for Wii U the fastest-selling Wii U game for the country. Get this, it only took three days.
It should be noted that the sales number is made up of bothphysical and digital sales. Mario Kart 8 sold 1.2 million units in its first three days worldwide. However, because Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be coming out in Europe on November 28th and in Japan on December 6th, we won’t know whether Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will beat Mario Kart 8 sales-wise worldwide.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is a fighting game that features numerous Nintendo characters. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS was released earlier this year and sold over one million copies in its first three days in Japan.
I think this is great news for Nintendo. They still haven’t met their financial goals for the year and they need a win with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. I’ve heard it’s an excellent game and I can’t wait to play it this Friday.
