The Last of Us’ Art Director Joins Crystal Dynamics

You may know Nate Wells as the Art Director for BioShock and The Last of Us. Now, he’s working for Crystal Dynamics, most notably the developer working on Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The news came via Wells’ Twitter account.

This is the third studio Wells has been involved with in the last year. After leaving Naughty Dog, he worked with indie developer Giant Sparrow (known for The Unfinished Swan) and then shortly with the San Francisco-based startup Missing Presumed Drowned.

My Opinion:

It’s unclear what Wells will be working on at Crystal Dynamics, but it will be interesting to see if his past experience working on Naughty Dog’s dark adventure title will affect the development of the sequel to 2013’s hit game, Tomb Raider. Then again, he could be working on a completely different title.
