Sony Computer Entertainment Executive Vice President Masayasu Ito affirmed to Japanese news company Nikkei Shinbun that there will be a PlayStation 5, either in the cloud or as a physical console.

“I think there will be a PS5. However, I don’t know what form it’ll have. It could be a physical console, or it could be in the cloud.”

Amid industry speculation of a more cloud-based gaming experience, Ito affirms that Sony is dedicated to creating new games, regardless of their delivery method.

My Opinion:

I think that it’s quite possible for our next consoles to be more cloud-based. We’re already seeing Microsoft attempt this with the Xbox One, and if they can prove that it works well on current communications infrastructure, who knows what we’ll see next?!
