Dark Souls VR?

Dark Souls II director Yui Tanimura revealed that virtual reality is being considered for future Dark Souls titles.

In an interview with IGN, Tanimura commented on how he believes that VR would be a great fit for the unforgiving franchise.

Tanimura said the following in the interview,

“This isn’t something that we are looking into detail yet, or at least right now, but I agree that the world of Dark Souls 2 is something that has a very visceral element to it.”

“It’s mostly sort of on the realistic side, so I think that experience with the headset is something that would go well with Dark Souls as content.”

With the release of the PlayStation 4-exclusive Bloodborne, and the re-release of Dark Souls II for Xbox One and PS4, 2015 is shaping up to be a busy year for developer FromSoftware.

My Opinion:

It’s exciting to ponder what the future holds for gaming with the invent of proper VR technology. What has seemed like a distant dream is now on the cusp of being accessible to the general public. What this means for existing IPs is unknown at this point, but the idea of having games like Dark Souls or Grand Theft Auto available in VR is tantalizing at the very least.
