DONTNOD Entertainment and Focus Home Interactive revealed a brand new action RPG called Vampyr earlier this week.
Vampyr will take place shortly after the First World War. Players will be in the role of a doctor who returns home during the Spanish Flu pandemic. One day, he is bitten by one of his patients, and he predictably turns into a vampire.
The “Y” in Vampyr is reportedly related to the choices players will face in the game: to save the life of patients, or to kill them and feed. The tag line is “Take blood. Save a life.,” which is very fitting.
Little else is known about Vampyr at this time. There are currently no announced platforms or a release date for the upcoming vampire action RPG.
DONTNOD Entertainment is known for their 2013 action game, Remember Me, and for their upcoming episodic thriller, Life is Strange.
My Opinion:
While I personally wasn’t a fan of the gameplay in Remember Me, I have high hopes that DONTNOD learned from some of their miscues. If anything, the premise and story of Remember Me was fantastic, so I expect that Vampyr will be much the same. As a history buff, I am fascinated by the idea that this will take place right after the First World War. It’s cool to see them take the Spanish Flu pandemic and make it into a crazier story. Come on DONTNOD, please make this a kickass game!
